Sometimes we recognize our child needs extra support. But as parents or guardians, we don’t yet have the tools to help.
From a lack of coping skills to constant developmental changes, the world can be a complex place for your child.
Whether it’s overcoming anxiety in social situations or processing a traumatic event, our child therapists offer a warm and engaging space for children to express themselves and learn new ways to manage their thoughts and feelings. Through play and expressive therapy, we help your child develop greater understanding and well-being, so that they may experience a daily sense of ease and belonging.

Working Together
We know every child is unique, which is why every counselling session is tailored to their individual needs, preferences, and personality.
However, in general we propose the following:
Intake session with caregivers: We discuss your concerns, goals for therapy, and brainstorm new strategies to try at home or at school.
Working with children: Weekly 50-minute sessions are recommended to give your child time to develop trust, get to know the environment, and process what brought them to counselling.
Debrief with caregivers: After working with your child, we meet to discuss how to best support them. We identify strengths and areas of growth, and collaborate on ideas to continue their development and success. This is an important part of our process and one that ensures continued success for your child.
Our team proudly serves clients across:

How involved will I be in my child's therapy? At Strong Ties, we value the involvement of parents/guardians/caregivers when it comes to the health and well-being of your child. With kids aged 3-14, although we provide 1:1 counselling sessions, our therapists will always include continuous updates, check-ins and debriefs afterwards, as well as tools and insights you can apply at home. Our registered clinical counsellors for teenagers always respect our client’s right to privacy. However, we do encourage teens to allow us to share updates on their progress, as well as insights or tools that can be implemented at home for extra support.
